During a lesson, we take an activity of your choice and look at different ways of carrying out that activity to bring about positive change. I will use a gentle hands-on approach, and I may ask a few questions to find out more about what you are thinking and experiencing.
Your first lesson is very likely to be a sitting lesson, as this is a great way to be introduced to some of the most important ideas behind the Alexander Technique. In subsequent lessons, you might like to look at a different activity, or even bring along a tool or object to use during your lesson. Musical instruments, sports equipment and heavy bags are all popular choices.
The skills and tools you will learn in your lessons are ones which, over time, you can learn to apply to many different areas of your life.
I am qualified to teach individual and group lessons, and both provide a great way for learning the technique. You may wonder whether group lessons are an effective way of learning this work; my answer to that is they absolutely are! In a group lesson, everyone has the potential to learn from each other. In fact, you may be surprised at just how much we can learn from watching other people's lessons.
